THANKS
Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways,
it can change someone else's life forever.
- Margaret Cho

Rotary's primary motto is "Service above Self." We do not participate in projects for the gratitude, but it is nice to be recognized for our efforts. We wanted to share some of them with you.

2010 Community Service Grant

[...] To remind you about the project, our organization purchased the bright red backpacks (imprinted with the Rotary logo and several other logos). Early childhood education students at LCCC filled the backpacks for our children and their families. The LCCC students selected books plus related games or manipulatives for each backpack. They designed literacy activities to go with each book and included tips for parents on a laminated card.

The first 35 Literacy Backpacks were presented in April. The early education faculty at LCCC said their students really enjoyed this project and learned a lot from completing it. The results are making our children VERY happy! Children and their parents will borrow the backpacks throughout the year. We hope this will increase the frequency with which our Allentown families read together at home.

Thanks again, Allentown Rotary Foundation!!
